Today is the first step of a new calling. I am sure many of you have heard or seen my Facebook post that the Lord is calling me out into a new adventure of being a senior pastor. I am very excited, but scared at the same time. This was my last day in the office at Living Hope. It was joyous in the sense of laughing with friends as we packed up my books, which I probably should thin down. But, it was bittersweet to logoff my computer and walk out of an empty office after 23 years of ministry.
This call is a pretty big thing for me. I will be experiencing many new aspects of ministry and life. Everyone has been so supportive at Living Hope. So many people have committed to pray for my family and me, and please know that we feel it. We know that God is going to do some great things with the Carlisles.
There are those who want to keep up with this next step of ministry in my life. This is why I have started this blog and will strive to write updates with my life and share what I am learning. Blogging is hard for me. Please realize that:) But, I will try to post something once a week to keep you informed.
Let me share why I am excited about this next step. I will be preaching God’s Word every week. I love preparing for a message. I get to dive into the text and see what is going on. It is an absolute joy to teach others what God shows me through His Word. I will also get to pour my life into a body of believers. Those who know me know that I am relationally oriented… To be able to live life with a body of believers as their shepherd is beyond happy for me:)
My focus for my future pastorate is Acts 2. In essence, I want to teach the Bible, pray, and have all things in common. That is the Acts 2 church. The really cool part of that is it says that God added to their numbers. My prayer is that when a fellowship focuses on the main things, God will use them in such a powerful way that people notice and want to know more.
Thanks for reading this post…until next step 🙂
