This journey as a lead pastor of a body of believers has been enlightening. It has been amazing. It has been an exercise in leaning on God and His Word. The first 8 months of ministry, I have loved teaching the Word. Building of the foundation that God has given us.
In 2017, God has laid some scriptures on my heart. One is about the job of pastor. I see in Ephesians 4:12 that my role is “to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ.” I am not the church. I am not the sole minister. I am given the charge to equip others to do ministry.
This means more than people serving OBC. I need to look at ministry on a larger scale. A scale outside the walls of the church…our community, nation, and world needs attentions. Jesus said, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”
If ministry at OBC depends on me alone…the Gospel won’t go very far. But, if I seek to equip laborers…more ministry can be done for the Kingdom. I need many prayers on divine sight and urging to see who in the OBC body will be those future leaders. I pray that the Spirit will stir the hearts of those called to step out and lead.
Look out 2017 🙂
The OBC volunteers of the week are the music committee. We are looking for a new music minister. And this group of men and women are diligently seeking God’s will for this position in prayer. The committee has a passion for music and worship.
…until the next step…
